The problem with taking pictures of people bicycling
(Well, one of them.)
There are three shutter speeds for taking pictures of moving bicycles:
- too slow: the bicyclist and bicycle are motion blurred (usefulonly for artistic effect ).
- too fast: everything is frozen motionless and the bicyclistlooks like they are doing an unnatural track stand .
- just right: the rider and bike are sharp but there is stillvisible motion blur in the wheels (and perhaps the rider's feet),so the bike still looks like it is actually in motion.
The
Final Examination
Mention final examination, and most of us envisage a medical ward flooded with medical students at every corner, making every effort to see – and touch, if lucky enough – their patients. Like it or not, a grizzled man with artificial heart valves becomes a popular Hollywood movie star, and the hospital is virtually awash
The difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0
Here's one view of the difference, put in a punchy short form:
- web 1.0: all of this user attention is going to be worth money!

In classic 'Web 1.0' operations (with the apex of this being the variousportals), it turned out to be very hard to monetize all

A Gnome irritation
Here is one of my periodic irritations, posed as a question:
How do you revert a modern Gnome application's settings back tocompletely stock values?
In the traditional Unix world, programs wrote their settings to dotfiles(sometimes dot-directories). If you wanted to reset a program back to itsstarting state, you removed the program's dotfile or dotdir, and you weredone. In the modern Gnome world, not so much, because dotfiles are oldfashioned now.
(Oh, some programs still
