I just got yet another prompt about certificate issues on the occasionof visiting yet another website (I think because it had a self-signedcertificate, but who can tell with Firefox's dialog about it?). And allthis reminded me of how badly implemented SSL is in web browsers.

Should you care about whether you can upgrade hardware?

How to quiesce NFS traffic the brute force way
Once upon a time, we had an NFS server. Like sensible people, weimmediately put the NFS server on a UPS, which meant that if we lostpower, we wanted to quiesce the NFS traffic before we had to shut itdown.
