- got 11,369 messages from 257 different IP addresses.
- handled 15,931 sessions from 851 different IP addresses.
- received 87,698 connections from at least 31,657 different IPaddresses since Monday evening.
- hit a highwater of 6 connections being checked at once sinceMonday

Solaris's sparseness
Coming from years of working primarily on Linux, one of the things thatkeeps getting me about working on Solaris 9 is just how sparse and barea Solaris install is. I especially feel this with system diagnostictools, where about 90% of the things I am used to considering as routineare either third-party packages or just not available.
(Solaris 10 holds out the promise to be much better, with things likeDTrace, but I'm stuck working with Solaris 9 machines at the moment.

What Linux distributions we use (and sort of why)
A friend is currently polling people about what Linux distributionsthey use and why. Sincemy answer is moderately long and I dislike editing in browsers and I actually want to capture thisfor future use, I'm putting it here.
On servers, I have direct experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux,Fedora Core, and Debian. We use RHEL instead of CentOS mostly becausethe university arranged a site license, so it's effectively free touse. RHEL gets used on a lot of mission critical bits of infrastructure
