Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 SSD Rumored to Launch Within Two Months
The Samsung 980 Pro SSD was first revealed at CES 2020, making it Samsungs first consumer PCIe 4.0 SSD. Hardware leaker Ice Universe is claiming that Samsung will release the SSD within the next two months, which puts the latest date for a release in late August if the leak is to be believed. The Samsung 980 Pro should destroy the competition if Samsung's claims are true with advertised maximum sequential reads of 6.5GB/s, and sequential writes of 5

ASUS Releases Polaris 12 Phoenix Radeon 550 Card
The Polaris architecture was debuted by AMD in the RX 400 series almost 4 years ago, since then AMD has released two new generations of graphics processors, Vega and Navi. It seems that the Polaris architecture will be living on a bit longer with the release of the ASUS Phoenix Radeon 550 2GB GPU, based on the Polaris 12 GPU.
This product may seem familiar and that's because ASUS released the Phoenix Radeon RX 550 back in 2017, the new Phoenix

Computex 2020 Officially Cancelled
TAITRA, organizers of Computex, the year's biggest PC industry-related tech expo that highlights Taiwan's vibrant computer hardware and consumer electronics industries, announced that they have formally cancelled the 2020 edition of Computex. Originally slated for June as almost every edition prior, Computex 2020 was hit hard by the COVID-19 global pandemic that caused exhibitors to pull out. TAITRA scrambled to postpone the 2020 edition to September, a move that apparently didn't do enough

AMD Responds to Allegations of Ryzen Power Reporting Deviation Reducing CPU Life
AMD on Thursday posted its first official response to reports that the deviation in power reporting by the CPU VRM controller to a Ryzen processor against its actual power delivery may be shortening processor lifespan, sparked by HWInfo introducing the "Power Reporting Deviation" sensor. "We are aware of the reports claiming that select motherboards may be under-reporting certain power telemetry data that could alter the performance and/or behavior of AMD Ryzen processors under certain conditions. We are looking into the accuracy of these reports," the response begins.

Jim Keller Resigns from Intel
Intel today announced that systems designer-extraordinaire Jim Keller has departed the company citing personal reasons. Whether or not this is a blow to Intel likely depends on how far Jim Keller brought their Technology, Systems Architecture and Client Group throughout his two-year tenure at the company whilst serving as its Vice President. The semiconductor and chip architecture world isn't being driven by Mr. Keller himself, obviously; there are a number of architects and designers that bring the industry forward through their concerted efforts. However, it'

Sony Showcases Two PlayStation 5 Console Versions, Platform-Exclusive Next Generation Games
Sony today via a livestream finally showcased their hardware design for the next generation of consoles, and let's get one thing right out of the way: the company will be launching two console versions. This is a relatively unexpected twist - unexpected, because if anything, we were expecting two new consoles from Microsoft (remember the Lockhart rumors?), not from Sony. However, the PS5 will be eventually launching in two versions - a mainline console, and an all-digital spinoff.

Intel "Rocket Lake-S" a Multi-Chip Module of 14nm Core and 10nm Uncore Dies?
VLSI engineer and industry analyst, @chiakokhua, who goes by "Retired Engineer" on Twitter, was among the very first voices that spoke about 3rd gen Ryzen socket AM4 processors being multi-chip modules of core- and uncore dies built on different silicon fabrication processes, which was an unbelievable theory at the time. He now has a fantastic theory of what "Rocket Lake-S" could look like, dating back to November 2019, which is now re-surfacing on tech communities.
