JAKARTA/BANGKOK/LONDON -- Fossil fuel-reliant Southeast Asian nations have begun moving away from oil, coal and other polluting resources, swayed by a global push for decarbonization, with Indonesia's state-owned public utility promising a full exit from coal in four decades.

Indonesia's Perusahaan Listrik Negara has pledged to stop building new coal-fired plants and plans to switch existing coal capacity to renewables between 2025 and 2060.

Mitsubishi Chemical to build $915m resin plant in Louisiana

TOKYO -- Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical will pump slightly over 100 billion yen ($915 million) into the construction of a resin manufacturing factory in Louisiana, Nikkei has learned.

The company wants to increase the production of methyl methacrylate, or MMA, in the U.S. The raw material is used to manufacture acrylic resins, which are used in a variety of things, including auto parts and house paint.

The factory will start operations in 2025 with an aim to reach
