TOKYO -- The new leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile has lashed out at China, accusing it destroying Tibet's identity and calling on the U.S. and other democratic forces to unite to counter Beijing.
Penpa Tsering, 58, made the remarks in an online interview with Nikkei. He became the new president of the Tibetan government-in-exile, which is based in the northern Indian city of Dharamsala, in late May.

MUFG Union Bank avoids closures with bare-bones branches
NEW YORK -- Japanese-owned MUFG Union Bank will make more than 80% of its U.S. branches stripped-down locations to cut costs while maintaining its reach to customers, its newly appointed CEO said in an interview.
Union Bank will keep its current network of about 300 locations, but will have 45 locations serve as full-service anchor branches while the rest will be smaller limited-service branches, Kevin Cronin said.

Cyberattacks zero in on Tokyo Olympics as Games begin
TOKYO -- With the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics approaching, malicious software and websites have targeted both event organizers and ordinary fans.
A fake PDF file masquerades as a Japanese-language report on Olympics-related cyberattacks, for example. Opening it activates malware that infects the user's computer and deletes files.
