A 22-year-old Mexican man living in Montreal has been granted a last-minute stay of deportation after a Federal Court judge ruled his removal could cause serious harm to his young family. Immigration advocates are warning of rising removals and tougher enforcement in Quebec.

Michaelo Markicevic, 67, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Daniel Stopnicki, 47 in April. CBC News has confirmed that Markicevic is a former police officer with Collingwood police and former York University executive.
