Gardiner Expressway closed at Rees Street due to vehicle fire

The Gardiner Expressway has reopened at the Rees Street off-ramp after a vehicle fire Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the expressway just after 9:30 a.m. for reports of a multi-vehicle crash and vehicle fire.

The fire has now been put out. It’s believed between two and four vehicles were involved in the crash.

Paramedics say two people were taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigating suspicious death of man who fell from Barrie building

Barrie police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old man, believed to have fallen from a building, as suspicious.

Officers were called to the area of Worsley and Poyntz streets on Thursday around 9 a.m. after a man was found unconscious in an alley beside an apartment building on Collier Street.

Border collies Sally and Ben have been hired to keep Canada geese off a FIFA World Cup training pitch at Centennial Park in Etobicoke.

The dogs work with their handlers from Border Control Bird Dogs, who specialize in geese and waterfowl management. They are tasked with protecting the pitch from damage and goose droppings.

“As he’s stalking them slowly, and then the geese start thinking he’s a real predator in the area so they’re encouraged to leave,” one of the dogs’ handler says.

90-year-old man dies after car crashes into tree

Toronto police are investigating after a car crash led to the death of a 90-year-old man in North York on Thursday.

Police were called to the area of Bathurst Street and Danby Avenue at approximately 4:45 p.m. for a single vehicle involved in a collision.

Man dies after being found critically injured near Eglinton and Keele

Toronto police are investigating the death of a man who was found with critical injuries in the city’s northwest end early Friday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Yarrow Road near Keele Street around 2:15 a.m. for a medical call.

Ontario man accused of stealing Texas Republican Party data pleads guilty in Canada

Lawyers for an Ontario man accused of stealing and leaking Texan Republican Party data in 2021 say he has pleaded guilty before a Canadian court.
