Consulting firm CGI reports Q1 profit and revenue up year-over-year

MONTREAL — CGI Inc. reported its first-quarter profit and revenue rose compared with a year ago.

The Montreal-based business and technology consulting firm says it earned $389.8 million or $1.67 per diluted share for the quarter ended Dec. 31.

The result compared with a profit of $382.4 million or $1.60 per diluted share in the same quarter a year earlier.

LONDON (AP) — H&M’s top executive unexpectedly stepped down Wednesday and the company’s stock plunged as the fashion giant reported a drop in sales over the holiday shopping season.

Dump truck spills concrete debris on Gardiner Expressway, several vehicles damaged

Police are looking for a dump truck they say is responsible for spilling debris onto the Gardiner Expressway in Etobicoke during the Wednesday morning commute and damaging several vehicles.

The truck lost part of its load around 6:30 a.m. and dropped chunks of concrete onto the westbound Gardiner between Park Lawn Road and Islington Avenue.

Police confirmed to CityNews that several vehicles were damaged after running over bits of concrete on the highway. No injuries have been reported.

BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand’s Constitutional Court ruled Wednesday that the progressive Move Forward party must cease advocating amending the law on royal defamation — a decision that leaves the party vulnerable to being dissolved.

The court’s nine judges deemed it unconstitutional to advocate a change in Article 112 in the country’s Criminal Code — also known as lese-majeste law — which protects the royal institution from criticism by on those found to violate it, including up to 15 years in jail per offense.
