BANGKOK (AP) — Members of a rock band that has been critical of remained locked up Tuesday in a Thai immigration jail, fearful that they could be deported to Russia as a reported plan to let them fly to safety in Israel was apparently suspended.

ChatGPT violated European privacy laws, Italy tells chatbot maker OpenAI

LONDON (AP) — Italian regulators said they told OpenAI that its ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot has violated European Union’s stringent data privacy rules.

The country’s data protection authority, known as Garante, that it notified San Francisco-based OpenAI of breaches of the EU rules, known as General Data Protection Regulation.

The watchdog started investigating ChatGPT last year, when it that can produce text, images and sound in response to users’ questions.

The UAE ambassador takes post in Damascus after nearly 13 years of cut ties

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — The first United Arab Emirates ambassador to Damascus in nearly 13 years took up his post on Tuesday as Syria has been reintegrating into mainstream .

Syrian state media said the country’s Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad received Ambassador Hassan Ahmad al-Shihi’s credentials.

Final lane restrictions for Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction lifted

After more than a decade worth of traffic headaches along Eglinton Avenue, the last portion of long-term lane restrictions for construction of the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT have finally been lifted.

Lanes at the Yonge and Eglinton intersection have now been restored. It was the final spot where surface-level construction still had lanes reduced with concrete barriers and fencing in place until early this year.

That infrastructure has now been removed from the roadway and fresh paving has also taken place.

1 dead in two-vehicle crash in Vaughan

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Vaughan on Tuesday morning.

York Regional Police officers were called to the area of Highway 27 and Major Mackenzie Drive just after 8:30 a.m. for a crash involving a car and an SUV.

Police say a male was killed in the crash, but it is unclear if he died at the scene or in hospital.

It is not yet known if the male was a driver or passenger in either vehicle.

No other injuries were reported.
