Quebec ER overcrowding will ‘continue to be difficult,’ says health minister
MONTREAL — Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé had mostly bad news Wednesday as he provided an update on the province’s overtaxed emergency room network.
With emergency departments across the province averaging 137 per cent capacity, Dubé told reporters in Montreal the situation would persist for much of the winter.
“I said it has been difficult and it will continue to be difficult,” Dubé said.

DETROIT (AP) — Engine maker Cummins Inc. will recall 600,000 Ram trucks as part of a settlement with federal and California authorities that also requires the company to remedy environmental damage caused by illegal software that let it skirt diesel emissions tests.

Nova Scotia fourth province to sign detailed health accord with Ottawa
OTTAWA — Nova Scotia is the fourth province to sign a new health accord with the federal government, with Ottawa sending $355 million to improve access to health care.

Man accused in Harvard bomb threat, extortion plot last year pleads guilty to a lesser charge
BOSTON (AP) — A New Hampshire man who had been accused of participating in a plot in which a caller issued bomb threats last year to Harvard University and demanded a large amount of bitcoin pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Wednesday.
William Giordani, 55, of Nashua, New Hampshire, on charges including making an extortionate bomb threat. That charge was dropped, and he effectively pleaded guilty in federal court to knowing about a felony and not reporting it, according to his lawyer.
