Man seriously injured in Brampton stabbing; suspect sought
Peel Regional Police (PRP) investigators are searching for a suspect following a stabbing in Brampton.
Emergency crews were called to College Plaza near Steeles Avenue West and McLaughlin Road South around 5 a.m. on Monday.
Paramedics transported the man to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have not released a suspect description at this time.
Police have closed the east side of College Plaza for the investigation.

Toronto swimmer Joshua Liendo and Halifax gymnast Ellie Black added gold medals to Canada’s tally at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.
Liendo defended his men’s 100-metre butterfly title before Black became the first person to win two all-around gymnastics crowns at the Games.
Liendo touched the wall in a meet record of 50.42 seconds, edging Australians Matthew Temple (50.43) and Ben Armbruster (50.58) at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Toronto police investigating shooting near U.S. Consulate; suspect at large
Toronto police are investigating after a gunshot was heard early Monday morning near the U.S. Consulate building in the city’s downtown core.
Officers were called around 4:45 a.m. to the Armoury Street and University Avenue area, a zone that includes the consulate and several government buildings.
Police say evidence of a firearm discharge was found outside the consulate. No injuries were reported.
Investigators say a white sedan was seen fleeing the area immediately after the shot was fired. There is no suspect description

Driver seriously injured after vehicle slams into pole in Toronto’s west end
Toronto police are investigating a single‑vehicle collision early Monday after a male driver crashed into a pole in the city’s west end.
Emergency crews were called around 5:12 a.m. to Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West for reports of a vehicle that had struck a pole. Police say the impact brought the pole down, leaving traffic signals in the area out of service.
The male driver was rushed to hospital on a trauma run with serious injuries.

Four years after a lawnmower accident nearly cost him both legs, 10-year-old Austin Byres crossed the finish line at Supertri Toronto on Sunday.
Byres ran the final stretch of the annual triathlon alongside Canadian Olympic triathlete Tyler Mislawchuk and members of the team from Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children that helped save both his legs and feet after the accident.
