Apple released iOS 18.2 beta 3 to developers today. It’s not as dramatic of an update as the first two betas, but there are a couple of changes worth pointing out.

iOS 18.2 beta 3 adds new ‘Require Screen On’ toggle for Camera Control

iOS 18.2 beta 3 adds another new toggle for personalizing the iPhone 16’s Camera Control. Now, you can open the Camera app with a single press of the Camera Control even if your display is off.

If your iPhone 16’s display is off, the default behavior is that you press the Camera Control once to wake the screen and again to open the Camera app. This new toggle in iOS 18 gives you the ability to remove that first press.

iOS 18.1 added a new ‘Inactivity Reboot’ security feature for iPhone

Last week, a report from 404 Media highlighted concerns from law enforcement officials about iPhones rebooting automatically rebooting themselves.

While law enforcement officials had erroneously speculated that iPhones were secretly communicating with each other to reboot, that’s not actually the case. Instead, Apple added a new security feature in iOS 18.1 that forces iPhones to reboot after a period of inactivity.

Apple Music is publishing a $450 hardcover book celebrating its 100 Best Albums

Apple Music picked its 100 Best Albums earlier this year. But it seems the digital celebration was only part of the story. Apple Music has that it’s to commemorate the album list. Here’s the kicker: it will set you back $450.

Apple TV app gains customizable tab bar in iPadOS 18.2 beta

Apple just released new AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 firmware for all users

Apple has released new firmware for AirPods Pro 2, the first update since iOS 18.1 added support for powerful new hearing health features. AirPods 4 got an update too. Here are the details.

The last firmware release for AirPods Pro 2 was build 7B19.

That update launched shortly before iOS 18.1 introduced Apple’s trio of new hearing health features:

  • Hearing Aid
  • Hearing Test
  • Hearing Protection

Today, the company has released build 7B21 for all AirPods Pro 2 models.
