"Games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals," the letter reads

Amazon Game Studios is stepping away from direct operation of two of its biggest MMO investments in the West: Throne and Liberty will return to developer NC and its subsidiary FirstSpark Games in the fourth quarter of 2026, while Lost Ark will transition from Amazon to its original developer, Smilegate, in early 2027.

The two announcements mark a significant retreat for Amazon’s MMO publishing strategy. Rather than continuing to operate the games itself, Amazon is handing responsibility back to the companies that created them,

FromSoftware Attempted Ray Tracing with Elden Ring, But It Pales in Comparison to Dark Souls 3 with Modded Path Tracing

Although FromSoftware has created some of the best action RPGs of all time, never ceding to the pressure to create more marketable titles , the Japanese studio is not exactly known for pushing the technical boundaries of games. In Elden Ring , the studio led by Hidetaka Miyazaki did try its hand at ray tracing with ray-traced ambient occlusion and shadows, but what it has achieved pales in comparison to the modded path tracing that is coming soon to Dark Souls 3 .

Following a long development time, Crimson Desert launched earlier this year on PC , PlayStation 5 , and Xbox Series X|S , becoming a smashing success despite its by-the-books open-world formula that incorporates elements from other open-world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild . However, one user who owns NVIDIA’s previous-generation graphics card has likely triggered a firestorm on purpose as he attempts to rage-bait his fellow PC enthusiasts by claiming that the RX 9070 XT is better than the RTX 4090 in path tracing
