Foxconn says China can no longer be "the world's factory"

Bottom line: With the US-China trade war raging on with no end in sight, manufacturers like Foxconn are desperate to escape the immense pressure by shifting production capacity elsewhere. But while Trump administration's goal has been to encourage this capacity to go back to the United States, it looks like both China and the United States stand to lose as manufacturers look to other regions with more interest.

Foxconn's latest earnings report is out, and it looks like Apple's biggest supplier rose above analyst expectations at

Control Ultimate Edition lands August 27 with 'free' next-gen upgrades

Decisions, decisions: Publishers who have current-generation games set to release between now and the launch of the next-gen consoles are in a bit of a pickle on how to transition players to the newer hardware. Do they give early buyers free access to the upgraded version of the game, or charge them again when the optimized title releases?

Remedy's action-adventure game Control is approaching its one-year birthdate later this month. To celebrate, publisher 505 Games announced it would be releasing an

SNK announces $500 Neo Geo arcade cabinet with 50 pre-loaded games

In brief: At 25 inches (H) x 15.4 inches (W) x 19.4 inches (D), this arcade cabinet isn’t quite as large as a traditional machine but that also means it won’t take up as much space, either. Without the optional base, the cabinet weighs around 28 pounds. If you’d rather have a more true-to-life arcade cabinet, the base adds another 32 inches to the overall height.

For around $300, you can screen movies in your own private theater like a baller

Bottom line: Whether or not Alamo’s offer is worth it to you will largely come down to how many people you invite to the screening and just how much value you put into having your own private theater. With the lingering pandemic, some might see this as a great way to host a birthday party or other public gathering in a not-so-public way.

It’s a tough time to be a movie theater operator. Covid-19 shut most major theaters down starting in mid-March

Microsoft removes driver updates via Windows 10 Device Manager

Cutting corners: The Windows Device Manager remains a valuable troubleshooting interface, but one that has often left users disappointed whenever they relied on its driver update feature to fix related woes. Microsoft has silently removed that functionality as of Windows 10 version 2004 (May Update), leaving users with the option to browse and install pre-downloaded drivers locally, via third-party tools, or going to the Settings app to check online for latest drivers available under Windows Update.

Users running the latest version of Windows

Judge dismisses Genius' stolen lyrics lawsuit against Google

Editor's take: I'm no legal expert but it sounds as if this was a failure by Genius' legal team. In hindsight, had they taken a different route with their lawsuit, perhaps it would have stood a better chance at success. Maybe they should regroup and try again?

Google added song lyrics to its search results in 2014. Not long after, one of the web’s largest lyrics providers, Genius, suspected the Mountain View-based tech giant was scraping lyrics from

Red bricks can be used as battery-like energy storage devices

Why it matters: Researchers from Washington University in St. Louis have developed a method to store energy using red bricks, an abundant and affordable building material that has been in use for thousands of years. Commercial plans weren't mentioned but it's easy to see how this could be implemented in the real world, perhaps in conjunction with solar cells, to have a serious impact on how we store energy.

To make its “smart bricks,” the team created a coating made of the conducting polymer PEDOT.
