Lyft will transition to 100 percent electric vehicles by 2030

In brief: Lyft wants you to know how much it cares about the planet, if its latest announcement is anything to go by. According to the ridesharing company, it will be making the switch to fully-electric vehicles over the next decade in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint.

Lyft's specified deadline for this change is 2030, which is a pretty ambitious target. It's not unrealistic, but the company will undoubtedly run into a few major roadblocks on its way to reaching that

AT&T is slashing a 'sizable' number of jobs and closing 250 retail stores

What just happened? AT&T is prepping for a wave of layoffs that’ll eliminate more than 3,400 jobs across the country. Those who are let go will receive severance pay and up to six months of health insurance coverage, a spokesperson said. Predictably, the workers union that represents some AT&T employees was less than thrilled to learn of the cuts.

According to a recent report from the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the job cuts will largely target technicians and clerical jobs

Apple's Tim Cook expected to join CEOs of Google, Amazon, and Facebook in testifying before Congress on antitrust issues

In context: During the last few weeks, the House Judiciary antitrust subcommittee has been pushing tech giants that are under investigation on the possibility of having their chief executives testify in an upcoming hearing. The CEOs of Google, Amazon, and Facebook had concerns about the timing and the questions they may be asked but eventually caved in. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook has yet to do the same, though it's widely expected he will.

It's no secret that Big Tech is under the lawmakers' microscope for

Lucid Motors resumes development of its first EV, rescheduled unveiling for September

Editor's take: If you recall, the Lucid Air was originally slated to be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in April. The unveiling really feels like a formality – at least in terms of exterior aesthetics – as we’ve already seen numerous images of the Lucid Air. I can’t imagine its design will change substantially this late in the development stage.

Lucid Motors is back on track. After postponing the official unveiling of its upcoming luxury sedan, the Lucid Air, back in March due

T-Mobile exec explains Monday's network outage was not a DDoS attack

Editor's take: You may have noticed all the internet shouting about the United States being under a cyberattack from a foreign country on Monday that took down our entire cellular infrastructure. No, really. I read it on Facebook and Twitter. You may have also noticed that you had no troubles at all. Sorry folks. False alarm. After all, it is 2020, the year of panic.

On Monday, social media went into a tailspin with unsubstantiated reports that the US was suffering a large

Uber to leverage core software to generate new revenue stream

Editor's take: It’s difficult to say whether this is the right move or not for Uber. Some will no doubt view it as a last-ditch effort to stay afloat during a very challenging time. Others could take it as the company leveraging what made it unique in the first place, like a restaurant selling its secret sauce to the competition. But if Uber’s goal is truly to “make car ownership a thing of the past,” this certain falls in line with that strategy.

Opinion: Cisco focuses on location as companies start to reopen

In context: As states in the US start to reopen and businesses around the country (and the world) start to plan for employees to return, there’s been a lot of discussion around what the new “normal” in the workplace will be. Of course, we don’t really know what it’s going to be like, but most people are fairly certain it’s going to be different. Whether it’s staggered work schedules, spread out workspaces, plexiglass shield-equipped lunch tables

Microsoft releases fix for Windows 10 update printer issues

What just happened? Whenever Microsoft acknowledges a bug caused by a Windows 10 update, of which there are many, it usually promises that it’s working on a fix. In the case of the printer issues brought by the recent KB4560960 and KB4557957 updates, the company has kept its word.

As we noted in our feature listing some of the biggest problems caused by the Windows 10 May 2020 update and the two subsequent

Proposed NASA mission would revisit Neptune's unusual moon Triton

In a nutshell: NASA said the mission would have three main goals: determining if an underground ocean is the source of the icy plumes, mapping the remainder of the moon’s surface (Voyager 2 only charted roughly 40 percent of the satellite’s surface) and unraveling the mystery of the moon’s remarkably young surface.

When Voyager 2 whizzed by Neptune’s largest moon, Triton, more than three decades ago, the craft arguably supplied scientists with more questions than answers.

Bose waves the white flag on augmented reality

Editor's take: Renowned audio equipment manufacturer Bose is giving up on augmented reality a little over two years after first announcing the program, failing to commercialize the tech as intended. Bose had a solid idea with its AR audio platform that could still be viable once the tech matures a bit.

Bose announced in early 2018 that it was setting aside $50 million to develop what it called the world’s first audio augmented reality platform. In short, the program aimed to add an extra layer
