Quibi is missing the mark so far, forecasts 30% of paying subscriber goal in its first year

In brief: Launching during the pandemic was always going to be a tough ask of Quibi. The mobile-first streaming platform was designed for those in motion, not millions of people stuck in their homes for months on end with bigger and better platforms to consume media on (televisions). And with millions of people suddenly losing their jobs, lots of people weren’t on the hunt for a new streaming service, even if it did include a 90-day free trial.

But these aren’t the

PlayStation 5 will "emphasize value over price," says Sony

Why it matters: We now know what the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 look like. We also know most of their hardware specs and have seen some games. But the big question remains: how much will they cost? In the case of Sony’s machine, we’ve just heard that the company will be "emphasizing value as opposed to price."

The admittedly vague statement comes from PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, who was speaking to the BBC.

There’s still no official word on how much

Counter-Strike 1.6 can now be played in your web browser

Why it matters: Counter-Strike was originally released for Windows PCs in 2000. It is often referred to as Counter-Strike 1.6 to differentiate it from other games in the series as that was the final major software version released. The game, originally a Half-Life modification created by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe, eventually spawned an entire franchise that remains incredibly popular to this very day.

One of Valve’s most popular first-person shooters is now available to play right in your

PNY crams 512GB into the micro-sized Elite-X Fit flash drive

In a nutshell: PNY has doubled the storage in its latest model of the Elite-X Fit series. The 512GB variant still keeps the nano receiver-like minuscule dimensions and is now available to buy for $100.

Given its meager performance figures of up to 200MB/s read and 30MB/s write speeds, PNY's new 5

Star Citizen has now raised over $300 million

Why it matters: Since Star Citizen’s $2 million Kickstarter campaign in 2013, we’ve seen Russia annex Crimea, Donald Trump become President, and a global pandemic, but no finished game. That hasn’t stopped it from raising a lot of money, though: it’s just passed the $300 million mark.

It was only six months ago when we reported that the ambitious space sim had seen its crowdfunding efforts reach $250 million. A year earlier

KFC unveils its chicken-cooking, next-gen console

WTF?! Do you feel like the Xbox Series X is too boxy? Does the PlayStation 5 design hurt your eyes? If so, you could always opt for a third option that not only promises true 4K at 120 fps but will also cook a chicken: the KFConsole.

This is, of course, a joke by the fast-food chain, riding the wave of hype from the recent PS5 reveal . It comes from the company’s gaming Twitter and Instagram accounts, which share game

Researchers still don't know why this Atari 2600 game works

In a nutshell: Video game historians and digital “archaeologists” are increasingly digging up (no pun intended) old Atari games and delving into their code for clues on how titles were made given the hardware limitations of the day. One game, Entombed, is particularly noteworthy as it has stumped researchers thus far.

Launched on the Atari 2600 in 1982, it tasks players with traversing down a continuous vertically-scrolling maze while trying to dodge enemies. Since early game cartridges didn’t have
