Standalone 'Doom Reborn' mod aims to revamp Doom 1 and 2 in id Tech 4

In context: Doom is widely considered one of the greatest first-person shooter franchises of all time. Just about every game in the series got its fair share of critical acclaim, and the latest entry, Doom Eternal, was particularly well-received. Unfortunately, as great as some of the older games are, they can be a bit inaccessible for those who are new to the Doom universe -- the retro graphics, animations, and controls likely dissuade some potential players.

Fortunately, all is not lost for those

dForce hacker returns nearly $25 million in stolen cryptocurrency

WTF?! It’s a bizarre turn of events, no matter how you slice it. In the mostly anonymous world of cryptocurrency, once funds have been transferred, there’s usually no recourse and no way to trace who took the currency. Presumably, the hacker(s) involved here either made some serious mistakes that pointed to their guilt or they suddenly developed a conscience and felt compelled to return the booty. Or maybe they are a white hat hacker that just wanted to exploit a vulnerability in the service

Opinion: The new normal of remote work is going to be here for quite some time

Now that we’re several weeks into work from home mandates and clearly still many weeks (and likely months) away from most people being able or willing to go back to their offices, companies are starting to extend and expand their remote access plans. Early on, most organizations had to focus their attention on the critical basics: making sure people had PCs they could work on, providing access to email, chat and video meetings, and enabling basic onramps to corporate networks and the resources they contain.

However, it

Sonos dives into original content with Sonos Radio

In brief: Smart speaker maker Sonos on Tuesday ventured outside the familiar confines of its hardware community for the first time with the launch of Sonos Radio, a free, ad-supported streaming radio service that is available exclusively to its customers. It's a little late to the party but there has arguably never been a better time to roll out a service like this.

Sonos Radio grants access to more than 60,000 radio stations from a variety of streaming partners as well as a healthy serving of

Nintendo is reportedly planning to boost Switch production to meet the higher demand. According to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asian Review, the company is preparing to increase the number of units made in 2020 by about 10 percent over

Death Stranding will miss June launch date on PC, release now set for July 14

The big picture: Like many, the team at Kojima Productions has been forced to work from home due to Covid-19 mitigation efforts. Technology makes it possible to work remotely but even still, if you’re not accustomed to it, there are bound to be some growing pains as people adjust to their new work environments.

Death Stranding won’t meet its originally scheduled PC launch date due to complications from the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

Developer Kojima Productions revealed in a Twitter post on Tuesday that

WD, Seagate and Toshiba found selling slow SMR drives unsuitable for NAS RAID environments

A hot potato: Reports of WD, Seagate, and Toshiba quietly selling SMR disks have been confirmed by the respective manufacturers. SMR or shingled magnetic recording makes for denser and cheaper drives but also results in very slow write performance, limiting their use to archiving applications where such latency is endurable. The three manufacturers were previously accused of not mentioning this specification in user documentation of some models and marketing them as NAS drives, misleading consumers who were expecting high performance for their RAID configs.

HDDs don't usually get in the
