WhatsApp will limit forwarding of viral messages to one group at a time

In context: Facebook has a history of mishaps related to exercising poor control over the information disseminated on its platforms. Now that WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption, it has found a new problem - the company can't see what people forward to each other in chats, allowing misinformation to become viral and fly under the radar.

Messaging apps with the sheer scale of Messenger and WhatsApp are the platforms of choice for malicious actors looking to spread misinformation around Covid-19. Messages can be forwarded and spread

You can pilot a huge mech in No Man's Sky starting today

Editor's take: Not many people would argue that Hello Games has redeemed itself after No Man's Sky's abysmal launch. Not only has the studio delivered what it initially promised, but it has also continued on with a long string of very well received DLC updates. And to make it all the better, all of this content has been free from day one. No season passes, no extra payout, just free. Kudos to HG for going above and beyond to bring such a beautiful and fun

Opinion: Need for multiple video platforms becoming apparent

In context: Like most of you, I’ve been doing more than my fair share of video calls lately and feel relatively certain that the practice will continue for some time to come—even when life beyond the COVID-19 pandemic starts to return to normal. As we’ve all learned from the experience, in the proper amount and for the proper length, they can be a very effective form of communication. Plus, as many have discussed and promised for years, they do give us the flexibility

Super Mario 64 smoke glitch uncovered, fixed with a single line of code

Recap: Super Mario 64 is arguably one of the best games Nintendo ever put out. As one of only two titles available for the Nintendo 64 at launch (in North America), the game delivered stunning 3D visuals and compelling level design in a package that successfully introduced gamers to Nintendo’s radical new controller. More importantly, Nintendo managed to crank the fun factor up to 11. It was a true gem, but in hindsight, it wasn’t perfect.
