It seems phone makers like Google, Nokia and LG don't want Qualcomm's expensive Snapdragon 865

The big picture: Qualcomm has chosen to bundle all sales of its high-end Snapdragon 865 system-on-a-chip with the X55 5G modem, which is reportedly pushing phone manufacturers away from the tradition of using the latest and greatest mobile platform in their new phones. Makers are instead favoring an approach that lets them keep costs down, and by extension lets them avoid increasing phone prices.

When Qualcomm made the peculiar decision to leave out an integrated modem from its Snapdragon 865

Joy-Con Droid turns your phone into a Nintendo Switch controller

In context: You are probably not liking being cooped up in your home during the coronavirus but, like most people, are trying to make the best of it. Hooking up your Switch to the big screen and challenging the family to a couple rounds of Mario Kart 8 can be a fun way to alleviate some of that stress and cabin fever associated with being locked down.

However, you might find yourself short a controller or two, depending on how many family members are wanting to get in on the action. Fortunately

Valve explains why it tried and failed to make multiple Half-Life 3s

In context: Yesterday's launch of Half-Life: Alyx was something of a turning point for Valve. After years of not making any actual games (except for ill-fated card game Artifact), some grew concerned that not only was the Half-Life franchise dead, but that Valve's interest in game development as a whole had waned. However, the outstanding critical success of Alyx has proven that neither of those concerns are well-founded these days.

Valve is returning to the Half-Life

Brave partners with Binance to enable private cryptocurrency trading in the web browser

Why it matters: Cryptocurrencies still don't have nearly the same level of adoption as traditional digital money, but that also depends on what users can do with them in the real world. For instance, the Brave browser will now have an integrated Binance widget that allows crypto enthusiasts to do their transactions from the comfort of a privacy-focused browser.

The Brave browser isn't nearly as popular

In brief: Mobile-only banks are taking traditional banking by storm with their ease of use, but the one thing they still lack is the sheer scale of the latter services.
