Amazon opens first full-sized cashier-free grocery store in Seattle

The big picture: Amazon Go allows users to shop with no lines, no checkouts and no registers – simply open the Amazon app on your smartphone, scan it when entering the store, grab what you need and go. Items you leave with will be billed to your Amazon account.

It’s been a little over three years since Amazon launched its first cashier-free convenience store. The concept took a big leap on Tuesday with the launch of Amazon’s first full-on Go grocery store in Seattle.

Apple Silicon|Intel

Opinion: Intel focuses on 5G infrastructure

The big picture: As with many other computing platforms, it’s the software that’s driving the biggest innovations in networking. By building on more standardized hardware platforms (x86 for Intel and Arm for Marvell) and leveraging open source software tools and platforms, like Linux, companies can create networking-related innovations at a faster and more efficient pace.

Despite the cancellation of this year’s Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, quite a few tech companies are still making important announcements that were originally planned

Xbox One players will soon be able to eject discs with their controller

Why it matters: For some odd reason, Microsoft chose not to carry over the small convenience of letting gamers pop out their discs from their console using a controller, back when the Xbox One launched seven years ago. The feature does help with system accessibility and is useful in case of a malfunctioning eject button for players who routinely swap game/media discs.

Gaming consoles are pretty much limited in terms of user modification (besides upgrading storage), so it makes sense for companies to make them as user-friendly as

Billionaire Apple investor Warren Buffett finally upgrades his $20 flip phone to an iPhone

What just happened? Revamped Windows 10 Start Menu could replace Live Tiles

In a nutshell: Are you a fan of the Live Tiles feature in Windows 10’s Start Menu? Probably not, which is why Microsoft is reportedly going to kill them off in a future Windows update.

Live Tiles, you may recall, arrived alongside the Windows Phone 7 before making their way to the Windows 8 operating system. Microsoft hoped the feature would make the OS well-suited for both desktop and touchscreen computers, but it wasn’t too be. Despite this, Live Tiles still came to

Huawei made a surprisingly decent 5G clone of the Apple iPad Pro

Cutting corners: Huawei's iPad Pro clone comes at the worst possible moment, and yet it's likely one of the best Android tablets out there with an active digitizer. The MatePad Pro even comes in a 5G flavor, but there's no going around the lack of Google Play apps, which is why Huawei is only hoping to sell it in Asia and Europe.

Huawei has taken a lot of inspiration from Apple products when it designs its own, and the MateBook is a prime example of that

NASA's InSight lander detects 'marsquakes' on the Red Planet

In context: If you've lived on this planet for longer than a couple decades, there's a good chance you've experienced a natural disaster or two. Tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis are common throughout the world, but new information suggests they're common on other planets as well: Mars, in particular.

Back in 2018, NASA's "InSight" lander touched down on the surface of Mars, with the goal of examining the Red Planet's interior

Cosmo Communicator clamshell smartphone gets dual-boot functionality

In context: Smartphones have evolved to the point where we are basically carrying a reasonably capable miniaturized PC in our pockets. However, mobile operating systems are limited and unable to run desktop apps.

Planet Computers is changing the typical paradigm of a closed mobile-OS ecosystem. On Monday, it released a firmware update to its £665.83 ($860) Cosmo Communicator
