Fake DDR5 memory modules appear to be circulating through Japanese second-hand marketplaces. The warning comes from X user TAKI, who says a friend purchased a DDR5 SO-DIMM that looked normal at first glance.
After removing one of the memory chips and cutting it open, the module turned out not to contain real DRAM silicon. TAKI first described the parts as plastic, but later corrected this and said the material was likely fiberglass.
