MSI has announced the AI Edge series, starting with a compact 4-liter desktop aimed at local edge AI workloads. The system is based on AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 300 series processors, with the flagship Ryzen AI Max+ 395 listed as an option.
MSI lists up to 126 TOPS of total AI performance for the platform. Graphics comes from RDNA 3.5 with 40 compute units. The XDNA 2 NPU is rated at up to 5
CPU-Z 2.18 adds detection for several unreleased CPUs, based on the changelog. On the AMD side, the update lists Ryzen 7 9850X3D (Granite Ridge) and Ryzen 5 7500X3D (Raphael). There is no mention of the teased “9950X3D2” part, even though AMD has hinted that another X3D SKU is coming.

VideoLAN is demoing AV2 video playback inside a VLC 4 build at CES 2026, running on a regular laptop. The on-screen stats panel lists “ AOMedia AV2 Video ” at 1080p, using a 4:2:0 10-bit planar format. VLC 4.0 is still in development, and VideoLAN has not published a 4.0 release yet.
