Steam Deck finally adds display-off downloads, helps protect OLED screens

Steam Deck will now allow you to download games with the screen off

Valve has started testing a new low-power download mode for the Steam Deck that lets the handheld finish game and update downloads with the screen turned off. Until now, players had to keep the console fully awake during downloads, which was annoying for large games and not ideal for OLED models due to static UI elements.

The new display-off low-power mode kicks in while downloads are active. Pressing the Power button during a download now brings

AMD now has three Zen5 X3D SKUs for the AM5 socket on a roadmap

Lots of options for gamers.

The Ryzen 7 9700X3D is an SKU we expected, but probably not this soon. AMD did not release a 7700X3D in the previous generation, but it did offer the AM4-based Ryzen 5000 model 5700X3D. This SKU was a bit slower than the 5800X3

AMD preps yet another Ryzen AI MAX SKU: 388 with 40 RDNA3.5 Compute Units

The new chip would feature one CPU chiplet and full graphics.

While there are hardly any gaming handhelds or gaming-oriented Strix Halo products, users who are focused purely on gaming can save hundreds of dollars if they choose the lower-end SKU called Ryzen AI MAX 385. Unlike the flagship MAX+ 395, it has 8 instead of 16 cores, and it also has cut-

GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER prototype with 1152 CUDA cores and PCIe 4.0 interface surfaces

GeForce GTX 16 series prototype has PCIe 4.0 enabled

What you see above is a prototype TU116 (Turing) model, likely from 2018, as indicated by the GPU die information. This is an engineering sample, meaning it’s not a retail card, even though it resembles the RTX 2060 series. As we remember, the first-generation GeForce cards with RTX features were divided into TU200 and TU100 series. The latter lacked

Special Intel board with 36 USB ports spotted

Custom Intel board with lots of USB connectors

I have never seen so many USB ports on a single board.

The board, based on Intel’s older LGA-1151 platform, appears to include dozens of rear USB Type-A connectors, possibly supported by multiple USB controller chips. Users speculate it was designed for specialized applications rather than regular desktop use, such as phone farms, mass USB device testing, or even mining setups that use USB risers instead of PCIe slots.

This is not the first

NVIDIA RTX 5090 Founders Edition will be replaced

NorthridgeFix has an update on the Founders Edition RTX 5090 card that entered their service recently.
