Valve is working with NVIDIA on SteamOS support

Valve is preparing SteamOS for more desktop hardware, including systems with NVIDIA graphics. In an interview with The Verge, Valve engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais said the company has been improving SteamOS compatibility for desktop PCs while work continues on NVIDIA driver support.

Valve Steam Machine ships with only one DDR5 RAM stick

Valve’s new Steam Machine may not have the same memory layout in every unit. Digital Foundry reported that the system uses a single 16GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM module. Valve explained that 8GB DDR5 SO-DIMM modules became difficult to source in the quantities required for production, forcing the company to move to a single 16GB stick.

TrendForce says DDR2 supply is tightening as buyers downgrade from DDR3

DDR2 memory is still being sold through contract pricing in 2026, and those contracts are getting more expensive.
