Starting with the new Alpha 3.11 patch, Star Citizen officially requires AVX instruction support if you want to play the game. This means all CPUs predating Sandy Bridge and AMD's Bulldozer architecture are no longer supported. Even worse, all of Intel's modern Celeron and Pentium CPUs (including the latest generation) can't run the game as they do not support AVX instructions, either.

After the disaster involving scalpers and bots snagging Founders Edition RTX 3080s and RTX 3090s from Nvidia's online store, Nvidia has halted sales completely for its online store and redirected Founders Edition units toward Best Buy alone. In what could be a move to broden its attack on rival chipmakers Intel and Nvidia, the Wall Street Journal reports that AMD is in advanced talks to buy FPGA-maker Xilinx in a deal that could top $30 billion. The talks are said to have resumed after a recent pause, so it's unclear if they will result in a successful acquisition. We've reached out to AMD for comment and will update accordingly.

Xilinx is primarily known for its FPGA products.

Just when you think retro gaming couldn't get more pixelated, maker Neythen Treloar comes forward with this awesome Raspberry Pi -powered LED matrix retro gaming project .

The project shared this week shows off a way to play games on an LED panel using a handheld controller. Treloar tested the system with both a Nintendo Switch Pro controller and PlayStation 4 controller. Be advised, however, that this project is still in its Alpha phase, so updates are expected.
