Coronavirus Researchers Get Access to 16 Supercomputers

In an effort to combat the coronavirus outbreak, the U.S. government, IBM, Energy Department National Laboratories, Amazon, Microsoft and more, are granting researchers access to a total of 16 supercomputers. This comes as an initiative from the White House, which started a partnership between the various parties and launched the COVID-19 HPC Consortium .

All supercomputers combined are able to crunch out a total of 330 PetaFLOPS through a total of 775,00

Apple announced a new MacBook Air last week, and now we might know which chips will be powering the laptop. Geekbench results spotted by Twitter user TUM_APISAK point to two Intel Ice Lake processors.

When Apple revealed its new MacBook Air, it said it updated it with a new keyboard, additional storage and Intel's 10th Gen Core processors. It didn't offer many details about those CPUs, but based on their LPDDR4X RAM support and Iris Plus graphics

A Mysterious Database Exposed 200 Million Americans' Personal Info

Here's a strange one: CyberNews reported Friday that a Google Cloud database exposed the personal information of roughly 200 million Americans. It's not clear who owned the database, however, and it appeared to have been wiped on March 3. But that wasn't actually the end of the saga; things only got weirder from there.

It Looks Like Microsoft Broke Windows Defender With a Recent Update

It's starting to seem like Microsoft can't update anything without breaking it. Windows Latest reported yesterday that Windows Defender, the built-in antivirus tool for Windows 10, stopped functioning properly after it was updated recently.

The report indicated that Windows Defender--which is set to be renamed Microsoft Defender as it expands to additional platforms --has shown an error message to multiple Windows 10 users. Windows 7 and 8 users don't appear to be affected.

Microsoft Will Give First Responders Priority on Azure During This Pandemic

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has put a lot of strain on internet services, and Microsoft said on Saturday that its Azure platform will prioritize first responders, should there come a time when it has to limit some people's access to the platform.

Microsoft said in a blog post that Azure is "supporting many large-scale corporations, schools, and governments in the mobilization of remote workforces" because global health officials have recommended social distancing in response to COVID-19.
