Nvidia PhysX 5.0 SDK to Rival AMD FEMFX With Finite Element Method

Just after AMD detailed its newly available FEMFX deformable physics library that was added to the GPUOpen library set, Nvidia announced Wednesday that it will also be working with the Finite Element Method. As it turns out, the PhysX 5.0 SDK is around the corner, set to land sometime in 2020.

Report: Nvidia's Mellanox Buy Receives EU Approval

Nvidia could be one step closer to acquiring Mellanox. Reuters reported yesterday that the $6.9 billion deal, which the companies announced in March, is set to receive unconditional approval from the European Commission as early as today.

Mellanox is best known for making interconnect equipment for data centers. Nvidia and Intel were said to have engaged in a bidding war earlier this year to determine which one would acquire the company--Nvidia's offer of $6.9 billion in cash won

Report: US Nears Approval of Tech Export Limits

The U.S. Department of Commerce is close to revealing new limits on the export of certain American technologies, according to Reuters , which said yesterday that it saw  an internal status update revealing  the restrictions the department's considering.

That document reportedly showed that Commerce Department regulators are being cautious with these restrictions. Reuters said the department will seek comment from foreign governments, as well as U.S. tech companies, before introducing them.
