China's Oppo bets on its Andes GPT model to cash in on AI boom

SINGAPORE/TAIPEI -- Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has launched its own AI services, enabled by its Andes GPT large language model, as the generative AI boom kicked off by ChatGPT rumbles on.

Oppo said on Thursday that it has put Andes GPT on its Breeno AI assistant for its smartphones and operating system users. Some new features will be available with an operating system upgrade for current smartphone users, the company said, including assistance with writing emails, making summaries of meetings, creating songs and editing photos.
