Wasmer 3.0 Released As The Latest "Universal WebAssembly Runtime"

Following the development builds over the summer, Wasmer 3.0 was officially released this weekend as the newest feature release for this open-source software aiming to serve as a universal WebAssembly runtime with a goal to "run any code on any client" via WebAssembly.

Wasmer is one of several efforts working to drive WebAssembly (WASM) on the desktop and supports a variety of operating systems, has its own "WAPM" package manager, and other features to help embrace WASM outside of the traditional web browser scope.

Mesa's Rusticl Achieves Official OpenCL 3.0 Conformance

The latest milestone for Rusticl as Mesa's Rust-written OpenCL Gallium3D implementation is that -- when running on Intel Gen12 Xe graphics -- has reached official OpenCL 3.0 conformance as recognized by The Khronos Group.

In addition to this week having brought the announcement of GraalVM 22.3 as the newest quarterly feature release and also Oracle announcing that GraalVM CE code will be contributed to OpenJDK, the Eclipse Foundation is ending out their week by having shipped OpenJ9 v0.35.0.

Eclipse OpenJ9 as a reminder is the high performance Java Virtual Machine previously developed by IBM as the J9 JVM. The Eclipse Foundation has been developing OpenJ9 now for the past half-decade.

AMD Releases AOMP 16.0-1 With Initial Support For RDNA3 "GFX11" GPUs

AMD today published AOMP 16.0-1 as their newest LLVM/Clang downstream focused on providing the latest Radeon OpenMP GPU offloading support. Notable with this AOMP build is providing initial support for GFX1100 - GFX1103 GPUs. The GFX11 IP block is coming with the soon-to-launch RDNA3 graphics cards and with this AOMP support gives us hope AMD will be providing punctual ROCm support for these next-generation graphics cards.
