‘Double-dipping’ dispute over Qualcomm iPhone chips finally ends

Apple previously accused Qualcomm of “ double-dipping ” as a result of the company’s policies over selling radio chips for use in iPhones. The Cupertino company had also objected to Qualcomm charging a percentage of the price of an iPhone rather than a fixed fee per chip.

Apple withdrew its claims back in 2024, but an independent class-action lawsuit was still being pursued on behalf of iPhone owners. This lawsuit has now been abandoned …

Apple M3 With Asahi Linux Continues Making Progress, No ETA Yet For Shipping

Asahi Linux developers have published a status report following the recent Linux 6.19 kernel release to outline recent progress and upcoming items around Apple Silicon support on Linux. This year will also mark five years that Asahi Linux has been around for bringing Linux to the Apple M-Series hardware.

Their latest progress report began by commenting that the DisplayPort Alt Mode support with USB-C -- a very frequent question from users -- will be "done when it's done". There still is a "fairy

M5 Pro & M5 Max Could Offer Considerably More CPU, GPU Cores Thanks To New Chiplet Design, Which Also Eliminates Thermal And Electrical Contamination

Apple has announced that it will host a product launch on March 4 , which can potentially be the date for its M5 Pro and M5 Max, which will be found in updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. One of the chipsets’ biggest highlights is that both SoCs will switch to TSMC’s 2.5D chiplet design as Apple moves away from InFO technology (Integrated Fan-Out).

This transition helps to improve heat dissipation and reduce defective chip rates, but

Apple Could Tap Chinese CXMT and YMTC for Memory and Storage

According to reports from Chinese local media, Apple is considering partnering with Chinese semiconductor manufacturers CXMT and YMTC for its upcoming iPhone 18 series and potentially other products like MacBooks and Mac computers. With memory and storage suppliers such as Kioxia, Samsung, and SK hynix raising prices due to a significant industry shortage, Apple is experiencing a squeeze on its profit margins while maintaining the same MSRP for its products. To diversify its supply chain, Apple is reportedly exploring the addition of DRAM from CXMT and NAND Flash from YMTC to reduce

Galaxy S26 Ultra Closes The Gap Between iPhone 17 Pro Max In New Benchmark Comparison, A19 Pro Is Barely Faster In Its Most Favored Test

Single-threaded performance is where Apple’s chipsets have always dominated for years, with its A19 and A19 Pro extending that win column once more. However, this streak is currently being threatened by the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is said to ship with Qualcomm’s faster Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. In the latest benchmark comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is barely faster than its upcoming competitor, which can only mean that this year can potentially be the one where

macOS 26.4 will notify users of Rosetta 2 discontinuation

Last June at WWDC25, Apple announced that Rosetta 2, the software that translates Intel apps for Apple silicon, would be discontinued starting after macOS 27. Now, Apple will begin notifying users of apps that will soon be incompatible.

At WWDC20, alongside the announcement of Mac’s transition to Apple silicon, Apple launched Rosetta 2. This is a translation layer that allows Apple silicon-based Macs to run apps created for Intel models. However, like with the transition to Intel, Rosetta 2
