This iOS 26.3 feature is a sign of what’s to come for iPhone

With iOS 26.3 , Apple is rolling out a new feature that lets you limit the information that cellular networks can use to determine your location. The twist, however, is that the feature is only supported on devices powered by Apple’s in-house modem.

I think what’s more interesting than this specific feature itself is what it represents for the future.

For the majority of the iPhone’s lifetime, Apple has used cellular modems from Qualcomm (as well as a brief tryst with Intel

AMD & Qualcomm Are Now Looking to Get Their Hands On the “SOCAMM” Memory Type For Next-Gen AI Products, Following the Footsteps of NVIDIA

AMD and Qualcomm are now exploring integrating SOCAMM into their AI products, as agentic AI applications have made memory a major bottleneck in current systems.

SOCAMM is a memory standard initially claimed to be tailored for NVIDIA , and Team Green has been an early adopter. For those unaware, SOCAMM is based on the LPDDR DRAM, which is traditionally used in mobile and low-power devices, but unlike solutions like HBM and LPDDR5X, the SOCAMM is upgradable. It's not soldered to the PCB, and it is

Apple M6 Chip Possibly Launching Around Late 2026

The first signs off an "earlier than expected" launch of Apple's futuristic M6 chip were linked to an allegedly expedited mass production cycle of Samsung Display's " 8.6G OLED panels." A Rare $174 Discount Has Been Applied To The 24GB Unified Memory Version Of Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro On Amazon, Giving You Incredible Savings During The DRAM Shortage

Apple is probably the only company that comes to mind with a supply chain robust enough to resist the pitfalls of the DRAM crisis , and though the company is estimated to pay a 230 percent premium for each 12GB LPDDR5X chip , it has other businesses to offset the rising component costs. This is a major reason why the company’s 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro continues to remain discounted on Amazon by $174 for the 24GB unified memory variant, whereas the
