Feds Seize $30 Million in Meth Smuggled in 3D Printers

In the latest smuggling attempt, as reported by The Guardian , it appears that 3D printers were used in an attempt to move 30 kg of methamphetamine from the US into Western Australia. The street value for 30 Kg is $45 million Australian, or $30 million USD.

Nissan Chemical, rivals make inroads in 3D-chip packaging materials

TOKYO -- From Nissan Chemical to Showa Denko, Japanese semiconductor materials makers are expanding output of products used in 3D chip packaging in response to chipmakers' growing interest.

Nissan Chemical will begin mass production in 2024 of a temporary bonding adhesive used in 3D packages -- wafers vertically stacked to create faster chips. The adhesive keeps silicon wafers attached to glass substrates during polishing and stacking, while also allowing wafers to be removed without damage.

Japan contractor uses 3D printing to build curved-wall structures

TOKYO -- Japanese construction company Obayashi Corporation recently unveiled a structure featuring curved walls and other parts built using 3D printing, showing off the potential for the technology as rising costs and labor shortages put pressure on the industry.

The walls of the structure were made with mortar sprayed by a robot arm from Yaskawa Electric, a major Japanese robot and automation specialist, at the Obayashi facility.
