ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X price in Japan rises by 21%, Legion Go 2 price climbs in US

ASUS raises ROG Xbox Ally X price in Japan from ¥139,800 to ¥169,800, while base model stays at ¥89,800

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X has increased in price in Japan, based on listings on ASUS’s official store and multiple retailer pages. The handheld launched at ¥139,800 in the country, and it is now listed at ¥169,800, a ¥30,000 increase, or about 21% over the original price.

Automaton reported the change and confirmed the lower-end ROG Xbox Ally remains at ¥89,800 in Japan (original launch price). The reports also say the price change has not been applied to the non-Microsoft branded ROG Ally and ROG Ally X models in the country.

Cost of memory likely to blame

The ROG Xbox Ally X ships with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, while the cheaper model is listed with 16GB of LPDDR5 and 512GB of storage. The adjustment is likely due to rising DRAM and NAND flash costs tied to data center demand, but ASUS has not publicly confirmed a specific reason for the handheld price move.

Legion Go 2 hits $1849 in US

In the US, Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 pricing also varies by configuration and retailer. B&H Photo Video currently lists a Legion Go Gen 2 model with AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, 32GB LPDDR5X, and a 2TB SSD at $1,849 and marks it temporarily out of stock. However there is still better offer at Best Buy, meanwhile, shows $1,349.99 for a 32GB and 1TB Legion Go 2 listing. However it is also marked unavailable at the time of writing.
