Chinese KingBank DDR5-6000 CL36 memory with CXMT modules tested on Zen 5

Hardware Unboxed published a review focused on a retail DDR5 kit from KingBank that is sold in Australia with Chinese ChangXin Memory Technologies DRAM chips listed among its possible IC suppliers, as the current memory market is in dire need of an alternative supplier.
The kit tested was a 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36 model sold locally at about 599 AUD versus roughly 649 AUD for a comparable option, a gap of about 50 AUD. Hardware Unboxed also claims that some of these Australian-market KingBank kits do ship with CXMT chips, and the goal was to check whether that translates into any obvious compatibility or stability problems on a modern AM5 platform.

For testing, Hardware Unboxed used a AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D system and added a Ryzen 7 9700X as a second CPU to increase sensitivity to memory differences. In gaming benchmarks, the KingBank DDR5-6000 CL36 kit delivered similar results to a premium G.Skill DDR5-6000 kit in the titles shown, and it also compared well against an entry-level DDR5-5200 kit.

Hardware Unboxed also notes the limits of that methodology. X3D parts are generally less dependent on DDR5 tuning than non-X3D CPUs, so the results function more as a “does it work properly” check than a deep look at memory scaling. The review did not include overclocking validation, so the video does not answer how far these specific modules can be pushed beyond their rated EXPO settings.
Gamers Nexus recently published a video laying out the CXMT debate, including where Chinese memory makers fit into the supply chain and the risks and constraints around that ecosystem. But the most important thing to note is that if you can buy a CXMT-labeled KingBank kit for less, the tested example showed no issues. If it only was a bit cheaper.
