Thermal Grizzly has started selling a delidded AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D as a pre-modified retail CPU, with the company listing it at $876.33 or €749 (VAT included, plus shipping) . The product page positions it as a “delidded and thoroughly tested” processor and says it comes with both a Thermal Grizzly warranty and the standard retailer guarantee.
Delidding removes the CPU’s integrated heat spreader to improve heat transfer, but it normally voids the CPU maker’s warranty. Thermal Grizzly is explicitly trying to address that trade-off by providing its own warranty coverage for the delidded part.

This kind of SKU is aimed at builders who already run custom cooling, including direct-die setups and custom water blocks, and who want lower load temperatures without doing the delid work themselves. Thermal Grizzly also ties the product to its own direct-die ecosystem and recommends liquid metal and its direct-die cooling solutions for best results.
75% more expensive than stock CPU
Each TG Delidded CPU includes a test protocol stored as a screenshot on a bundled USB stick, along with a microscope image of the delidded processor. Thermal Grizzly also notes that minor cosmetic imperfections can occur during delidding and that some residue may remain on the chiplets from the validation process, even after cleaning.
There are also strict usage conditions. Thermal Grizzly says the stock heatspreader included in the box must not be used, and that using it voids the Thermal Grizzly warranty, citing height differences that thermal paste or liquid metal may not bridge safely. It also states the delidded Ryzen 7 9850X3D is not compatible with AMD direct-die frames.
