Sony to close Bluepoint Games in March 2026, around 70 jobs impacted

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed it will close PlayStation Studios subsidiary Bluepoint Games in March 2026. A spokesperson told Bloomberg that roughly 70 employees will lose their jobs, and said the decision followed a recent business review.
Sony’s statement also described Bluepoint as a highly skilled technical team, and thanked staff for their work for the PlayStation audience. The shutdown comes about five years after Sony acquired the studio in 2021.

Bluepoint built its reputation on remakes and remasters, including Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. It also worked on collections and remasters such as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
After Demon’s Souls, Bluepoint spent time on other work inside Sony’s portfolio, including support on God of War Ragnarök, and a reported live service God of War project that Bloomberg previously said Sony canceled.
The closure adds to a wider restructuring period across PlayStation’s studios and projects. Sony closed London Studio during the 2024 layoffs, and later closed Firewalk Studios and Neon Koi in 2024. Sony’s 2024 update also cited reductions at Firesprite, rather than a full closure.
