Lenovo reportedly ends driver updates for Legion Go based on Ryzen Z1 Extreme

Lenovo Korea support reply suggests no more Legion Go driver updates, warns against using Legion Go S BIOS and drivers

A Lenovo Korea support response shared on Korean community forums claims the original Legion Go handheld has no further driver update plan .

Lenovo also advises owners to install all system updates through Windows Update and Lenovo Vantage first. For graphics drivers, Lenovo recommends downloading AMD’s latest “universal” graphics driver directly from AMD’s website, but adds that if the driver is not compatible with the Z1 platform, users should stick to the version delivered through Windows and Lenovo Vantage.

The shared support message does not explicitly say AMD has ended driver support for the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. However, it confirms that Lenovo Korea support says Legion Go drivers are not planned to receive further updates, and cross installing Legion Go S drivers is not supported.

Legion Go with Z1 and Z2 chips

Launched last year, the Legion Go S, powered by the Z2 Go chip, uses an older architecture (Rembrandt), and Lenovo apparently has no issue supporting that device with regular updates. Therefore, it is difficult to explain why support for a technically newer platform would be dropped, although technically AMD’s Z1 series (Zen4) launched before the Z2 (Zen3) lineup.

Legion Go is based on AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme platform, according to Lenovo’s product listing. That means any change in OEM-validated driver delivery can affect Windows users who rely on Lenovo’s packaged releases rather than AMD’s generic drivers.

Meanwhile, Intel-based MSI Claw systems equipped with Meteor Lake have recently gained XeSS 3 support , including multi-frame generation. ASUS, which also sells ROG Ally and ROG Ally X systems based on Z1 chips, has not confirmed any change to its driver support plans. Forum discussions that I read over the past two years suggest Legion Go owners have frequently complained about driver support, with updates arriving late and new AMD features often appearing well after they were available in AMD’s official driver stack.
