Apple confims Houston Mac mini manufacturing
© Apple Apple says it will begin manufacturing the Mac mini in the United States later this year. The comment came from Apple chief operating officer Sabih Khan during a video interview with The Wall Street Journal filmed at a Foxconn facility in Houston, Texas.
Khan said Apple makes “thousands every week” and described the Texas output as something Apple wants to scale over time for customers “in this area.” According to Reuters the move shifts part of Mac mini production from Asia to the Houston site, while production continues in Asia to meet broader demand.
“We’re very excited to tell you that later this year we will be beginning Mac mini manufacturing right here in this space,”

One thing that should be noted is that Apple is talking about manufacturing the Mac mini computer, not the chips inside it. There have been recurring reports and analyst claims that Intel could manufacture some Apple designed chips in the future, but Apple has not confirmed any Intel production for Apple Silicon.

Worth adding that the WSJ tour footage also shows inside US-based facilities tied to wafers and foundry work in Arizona, including GlobalWafers and TSMC sites.
