HWiNFO adds VRM monitoring for MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning
HWiNFO 8.42 is now available with improved Intel Nova Lake support and a set of new sensor additions.
For enthusiasts, the most practical GPU-related change is new VRM monitoring on MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning graphics cards. And by enthusiast I mean the very few youtubers and wealthy gamers who were ready to spend $5090 on this card . This should expose additional board-level telemetry in the sensor list, which is useful for power and thermals tracking during sustained loads or tuning.
On the power side, HWiNFO 8.42 adds monitoring support for MSI MPG Ai1300TS and Ai1600TS power supplies. These models are marketed around 12V-2×6 current monitoring and alerting features, so HWiNFO support means the PSU telemetry can be pulled into the same sensor stack many users already log for CPU and GPU behavior.
The release also adds an NPU Stress Test , available in the Pro version. HWiNFO says it also improved WinRT and EP initialization for that test, and it added dedicated NPU sensors for AMD NPUs and Intel Panther Lake and later platforms.
Other notes in 8.42 include rated and maximum power limit reporting for NVIDIA GPUs, enhanced monitoring for multiple fans on Intel discrete GPUs, EK-Loop Control support, and an option to configure auto-start under regular user accounts (admin credentials are still required during setup).
