Unreleased AMD driver DLL sparks early FSR 4.1 image-quality comparisons

FSR updates have been quiet on the public side, with no clear messaging around items like FSR 4’s FP8 model for last-gen GPUs or the next steps for the Redstone feature set. A new leak now points to AMD working on a newer FSR 4.1 build , based on a DLL that reportedly comes from Radeon Software “Vanguard” driver testing.
The file being shared is amdxcffx64.dll, which is the component users associate with FSR 4 and related driver-side toggles. The leaker claim the DLL originated from an unreleased Adrenalin 26.2.2 build distributed through AMD’s Vanguard program, which is AMD’s invite-only beta channel for early driver access.
© The Creator Early comparisons shared by users suggest small image-quality changes. The discussion focuses on foliage detail and stability in still shots, while several commenters say performance looks similar to prior FSR 4 builds. Because this is community testing with a leaked binary, it is not possible to verify what changed internally, or whether the results are consistent across engines and content.
As far as we can tell, the easiest way to test this new version of FSR is through third-party injection tools such as OptiScaler, which can load or locate FSR-related DLLs depending on configuration.
© The Creator Of course, we do not encourage anyone to download any files, it’s a random DLL from an unknown uploader is a security risk, and replacing system files can break driver installs or Windows integrity checks. However the file appears to be properly signed and does not trigger any warnings.
Redditor already tested it with RDNA3 GPU (of course they did)
A Reddit user has already tested it on a Radeon RX 7900 XTX. That is a last-generation GPU that does not officially support FSR 4, yet it is now being used to try an upscaling build that has not been released. If that does not get AMD’s attention, it is hard to see what will.
© AthleteDependent926 If you do decide to test anything, do it only if you are comfortable troubleshooting a broken install and you understand the security tradeoffs. If you have tested it, share what you are seeing in motion, not only still comparisons, and include the game and settings so others can reproduce it.
