AYN says Thor handheld pricing will rise again in April

AYN plans price hike for Thor dual-screen Android handheld

AYN says its Thor dual-screen Android handheld is likely to get more expensive again. The company attributes the upcoming change to continued increases in DRAM and storage costs.

The update was shared via AYN’s Discord, and points to supplier pricing rising further. AYN did not provide a fixed date in April, and it did not quantify the increase. The company said final pricing will depend on how component costs move closer to the changeover.

Thor pre-orders are handled in batches. AYN’s storefront lists Batch 3 pre-orders, with shipping starting in March. Some coverage also claims Batch 4 pre-orders open on March 1, ahead of the planned April adjustment.

This would be the second price review AYN has signaled for Thor in a short period. In January, AYN raised Thor pricing for the higher-tier configurations, citing higher memory costs at the time.

Thor ships in four variants: Lite, Base, Pro, and Max. Lite uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, while Base, Pro, and Max use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage. AYN also markets Thor with a 6-inch AMOLED main display and a 3.92-inch secondary display, plus a 6,000 mAh battery.

AYN has not confirmed whether other products will follow the same path. One report notes AYN also referenced uncertainty around the broader impact of memory pricing on devices like the Odin 3, but the latest Thor notice did not include a new Odin 3 price.
