Lenovo denies Legion Go support cancellation
Rumors about the original Legion Go losing driver support started last week after a translated Lenovo Korea customer-service message circulated on Korean forums and then Reddit. Some posts went as far as to claim AMD is ending driver development for Ryzen Z1 Extreme devices, despite the message itself being vague and region-specific.
At VideoCardz, we did not repost the claim that AMD was allegedly cancelling support. That line came from Reddit speculation, and it was not even stated in the shared text. It also did not line up with how these platforms are still being sold and supported across multiple OEMs. However, the original message still mentioned that Legion would drop support for the first-gen Legion Go system. Apparently that wasn’t true either.
Lenovo Legion Go support until late 2029
PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray says he contacted Lenovo US and received an official statement that the Legion Go has not been discontinued , and that Lenovo will continue driver and BIOS updates through October 2029 . Lenovo also said it is coordinating driver cadence with AMD, and that updates will ship after Lenovo validation.

Legion Go support was never great to begin with
Still, “supported until 2029” does not mean day-one game profiles or rapid GPU driver drops. Lenovo’s packaged driver track record on Legion Go has been slow, and the latest AMD graphics driver package currently listed on Lenovo’s support portal for Legion Go is dated September 1st, 2025. If you buy these handhelds for fast Windows driver cadence, the OEM path has rarely matched desktop-class timing.
© Lenovo For users who want newer optimizations, the simplest option remains installing AMD’s universal drivers directly. Lenovo Korea’s earlier guidance also pointed owners toward AMD’s generic driver route, while warning that cross-installing drivers from other Legion Go variants is unsupported. Installing generic drivers can work, but it bypasses Lenovo testing, so users should expect occasional quirks and manual cleanup.
