The Pro Display XDR has officially been discontinued. Apple’s high-end external display was first introduced in 2019 alongside a new Mac Pro, but has now been replaced by the cheaper (but better in many ways) Studio Display XDR.

The Pro Display XDR sold for a whopping $5,999 in its standard configuration. The adjustable “Pro Stand” was sold separately for an additional $1,000. Until the first Studio Display launched in 2022, it was the only external display Apple made.

Today, Apple launched the Studio Display XDR which uses a mini-LED panel with more backlighting zones, offers 120Hz refresh rate, and more. Unlike the Pro Display XDR, the new Studio Display XDR has built-in speakers and a camera. The Studio Display XDR, however, has a 27-inch display whereas the Pro Display XDR had a 32-inch screen.

There’s also a new version of the basic Studio Display.

The Studio Display XDR sells for $3,299, which includes a tilt- and height-adjustable stand.

And for those keeping track at home, the Mac Pro is still available with the M2 Ultra chip for $6999 … yes, the M2 Ultra chip that first launched in 2023.
