Apple Studio Display XDR: 27-inch 5K mini-LED, 2000-nit HDR, 120Hz
© APPLE Apple has announced a refreshed Studio Display and an all-new Studio Display XDR. The new Studio Display starts at $1,599 , while Studio Display XDR starts at $3,299 , and both offer standard or nano-texture glass options. Pre-orders open March 4, with availability set for March 11.
The new Studio Display keeps a 27-inch 5K Retina panel, with over 14 million pixels, 600 nits brightness, and P3 wide color. Apple lists a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a three-microphone array, and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio.
For connectivity, Apple says Studio Display now moves to Thunderbolt 5 and includes two Thunderbolt 5 ports, plus two USB-C ports for peripherals and charging. It also supports daisy-chaining up to four Studio Display units, and the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable can deliver up to 96W of charging power, which Apple says is enough to fast-charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
© APPLE Studio Display XDR is also a 27-inch 5K panel, but it is positioned as a higher-end Retina XDR model with a mini-LED backlight. Apple specifies 5120×2880 resolution, 2,304 local dimming zones, up to 1000 nits SDR brightness, 2000 nits peak HDR brightness, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Apple also lists a 120Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync, with a variable refresh range of 47Hz to 120Hz. For color workflows, Studio Display XDR adds Adobe RGB support alongside P3, and Apple claims more than 80 percent Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR work.

© APPLE On the I/O side, Apple says Studio Display XDR includes two Thunderbolt 5 ports and two USB-C ports, and can provide up to 140W charging power over the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable, which Apple says is enough to fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple also says Studio Display XDR replaces Pro Display XDR, and confirms availability through the Apple Store in 35 countries and regions.
