ASUS, Lenovo pages briefly list RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 12GB GDDR7

ASUS and Lenovo seem confused about the RTX 5070 memory spec

This year kicked off with minimal, if any, GPU releases. So far, nothing suggests we will see updates for consumers, at least not in the near term. Perhaps the SUPER series is not cancelled, but it is not coming anytime soon. It is also possible it will not launch at all. Some leaks from ASUS and Lenovo could hint at a small update for the laptop lineup, but they could also mean nothing.

The long story short, this is likely just a mistake. ASUS and Lenovo have each shown a GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configuration with 12GB GDDR7 in marketing copy and product listings. The ASUS example was spotted by Huang514613 and appears to be a simple mismatch between the GPU name and the memory line.

ASUS has already corrected its own specs for the ROG Zephyrus G14 (2026) GU405 lineup. The current spec table lists GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7, while GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU is shown with 12GB GDDR7.

Lenovo still showing a non-existent RTX 5070 spec

Lenovo’s Yoga Pro 7 15IPH11 PSREF marketing text still mentions “up to” an RTX 5070 GPU with 12GB GDDR7. Given NVIDIA’s published laptop comparison table pairs RTX 5070 Laptop with 8GB and RTX 5070 Ti Laptop with 12GB, this looks like a typo, not a new SKU.

Just assuming that there is something going on. If a 12GB RTX 5070 Laptop did exist, the cleanest way to get there would be keeping the same GPU configuration and the same 128-bit memory interface, then swapping to higher-density GDDR7 package.

NVIDIA already lists the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU at 24GB on a 256-bit interface, which implies 3GB-per-package density in a typical 8-chip layout, so the same approach could scale down to 12GB on a 128-bit design.

Well, this is just hypothetical, what is more likely happening is a simple mistake.
