PlayStation to keep big single player releases on PS5, not PC

Sony reportedly plans to stop releasing PC versions of its big single-player PlayStation 5 games, according to Bloomberg. The report says PlayStation has recently scrapped plans to bring some internally developed titles to PC, including last year’s Ghost of Yotei.
Bloomberg reports that online and live-service releases are still expected to ship across platforms. The examples cited include Marathon and Marvel Tokon, while single-player titles like Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming Saros would remain exclusive to PlayStation 5 under the current plan. Sony declined to comment, and Bloomberg notes the strategy could change.
Online games such as Marathon and Marvel Tokon will still be released across multiple platforms, but single-player titles such as last year’s samurai hit Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming action game Saros will remain exclusive to PlayStation 5, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to talk publicly about the company’s strategy.

Two third-party developed games that PlayStation publishes are still said to be on track for PC in 2026, Death Stranding 2 and Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Kena: Scars of Kosmora has already been announced for both PS5 and PC on the official blog.
Bloomberg cites people familiar with PlayStation’s plans who say some recent PlayStation PC releases did not meet sales expectations, and some within PlayStation are concerned PC releases could weaken the PlayStation console brand and reduce hardware sales.
Bloomberg also frames the move against how Sony’s main console rivals operate. Nintendo keeps most first-party releases on its own hardware, while Microsoft has expanded multi-platform publishing. The report adds that some PlayStation executives may be watching rumors around Microsoft’s next Xbox, including talk that it could be more Windows-like and capable of running PC games.
