Next Xbox will play PC games, new Xbox boss confirms
Microsoft has started teasing its next-generation Xbox hardware. The company is using the codename “ Project Helix” , and it has already positioned the device as a system that will run both Xbox and PC games.
The information comes from Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma, who posted on X after an internal Team Xbox meeting. Sharma said Project Helix “will lead in performance” and will “play your Xbox and PC games,” and added that she plans to discuss it with partners and studios at her first GDC next week.

Xbox’s official X account also acknowledged the codename in a separate post. Microsoft has not shared specifications, release timing, pricing, or a product name. For now, the messaging is limited to the codename and the promise of cross-library support across Xbox and PC titles.

With GDC referenced directly in Sharma’s post, this looks like the start of a broader partner-facing conversation rather than a consumer launch announcement. Any additional technical detail will likely come later, once Microsoft is ready to outline how “PC games” compatibility will work on the platform.
