Apple M5 Max appears in first Geekbench results, multi-core scores reach up to 29,233 points
Apple’s M5 Max has appeared in multiple Geekbench 6 results, offering a clearer early look at performance than a single listing. The three CPU entries shown for the 18-core chip report single-core scores of 4,268, 4,288, and 4,297, while multi-core scores range from 29,043 to 29,233 points. That places the new chip slightly above the 27,726 average often cited for Apple’s M3 Ultra in Geekbench 6 multi-core results.
© Geekbench Those numbers suggest Apple’s new top mobile chip is roughly 5% ahead of M3 Ultra in this specific benchmark, despite the older chip using a much larger 32-core CPU configuration. Compared with M4 Max results already available in Geekbench, the gain looks to be in the low double-digit range for multi-core performance. Single-core performance also remains high, with all three results landing just under 4,300 points.

GPU results are also starting to appear. The three Metal entries shown in the screenshots range from 218,772 to 232,718 points . That puts M5 Max clearly ahead of M4 Max in early graphics results, while still remaining below top M3 Ultra Metal scores that are often listed around 245K points on average.
© Geekbench The new benchmark entries appeared shortly after Apple introduced updated MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max. Apple says the new systems are available to pre-order now and will begin shipping on March 11. On paper, these first Geekbench results line up with Apple’s own performance claims, although broader testing will still be needed to measure sustained workloads and app-level performance.
