Android gets original Xbox emulation through X1 BOX fork of xemu
Original Xbox emulation has now reached Android through an unofficial port of xemu called X1 BOX . The Android release is not maintained by the xemu team. That has quickly become part of the discussion around this launch, because xemu is a free open-source project while the first Android storefront build is paid. The xemu team has acknowledged the port and, according to a report that cited its public response, says an official free Android release is planned for the future.
There is also a free build available outside Google Play. A separate GitHub project is currently offering APK releases and identifies itself as a fork of the Android port repository, which itself is a fork of the main xemu project. That means users now have both a paid store version and an unofficial sideloaded alternative, even though neither comes directly from the original xemu developers.

Performance is still inconsistent, and users should not expect every game to feel smooth or fully playable yet. Early testing shows that some titles can boot and run at acceptable speeds, while others suffer from slowdowns, broken textures, crashes, or uneven frame pacing. In some cases, lowering the frame rate cap from 60 FPS to 30 FPS appears to improve stability and reduce speed fluctuations, so a bit of tinkering with the FPS lock and other settings may be needed to get the best result. If you are into original Xbox games and want to revisit some of these titles, it is probably better to wait for performance optimizations.

To get this to work, users must provide their own MCPX boot ROM, BIOS, hard disk image, and game dumps. xemu’s official documentation also states that game discs must be prepared in XISO format, not standard ISO format, and the Play Store listing for X1 BOX says copyrighted BIOS and game content are not included. In other words, the Android port may simplify access, but it does not remove the usual emulator setup requirements.
Retro Game Corps says the emulator is still a work in progress, and that matches what we have seen so far. Support is uneven, and performance can vary a lot depending on both the game and the hardware. Some titles boot and run well enough to try, while others still have slowdowns, glitches, or just do not feel playable. Check the video below for setup and gameplay footage.
